It Will Be the End of Me

Description - Nobody is immortal. Not even fairies. We live long and prosper but we die too. I had everything. But death stole my everything away from me. AU CxT, JxW. Romance turns to tragedy.

A/N: Based on the song, "Long Song Requiem" by Trading Yesterday. This is an AU with Timmy originally being a fairy that had lived in Fairy World around the time Cosmo and Wanda were teenagers. Three part story. Each chapter begins and ends with a paragraph from either Cosmo or Timmy's viewpoint of their life. Two pairings: CosmoxTimmy, JuandissimoxWanda. Warnings: Sweet and adorable at first but then becomes very angsty and filled with tragedy. Happy ending? Maybe...

----------

Cosmo

The first thing I ever loved about him was the way he shined. In a world of light and purity, he shined through the rest making the world around him seem dim. I found myself wondering what it would be like to be enveloped by his light. He could have chosen anyone he wanted. He was new and fresh to town. He was smart, angelic, graceful, and passionate. And yet, he had chosen someone like me.

-----------

"Come on, Timmy!" yelled Wanda excitedly. She turned around to see him flying behind her with a tired smile. She exclaimed, "We're gonna miss the lunch special if we don't hurry!"

Wanda stood up straight waiting for him. Her short yellow skirt blew in the breeze atop her dark pink tights and black boots. Her pale yellow shirt stood out in contrast to her long pink hair that was pulled up in a ponytail. She waved for her new friend to hurry up with her many pink and yellow bracelets clanging against each other.

Timmy finally caught up with her though his breathing was hard. He was a tall fairy though still kinda short with his pale yet flawless skin. He was wearing one of his favorite outfits which was a slightly baggy pair of black jeans and tight pink shirt with a small black cross hanging from his neck. On each arm he wore long pink and black striped sleeves that almost covered his hands. He also had a full head of chestnut colored hair that matched perfectly with his sapphire eyes. Wanda's favorite part of his abnormal attire was the single golden earring that he wore just to laugh when his mother made a fuss about it.

He leaned down trying to catch his breath and relaxing his throbbing wings. He looked up at her with suspicious eyes, "Why are you so excited for this lunch special? And why drag me along?"

"Well...," she twirled one of her fingers with a strand of hair, "I also kinda want you to meet someone..."

His expression turned surprised but then he let out a long sigh, "You mean to tell me that you spent a hour convincing my mother to let me go with you just to get me to meet someone?"

Wanda scratched the back of her head with a nervous smile, "Well, he is a good friend of mine. I just thought that since you're new here then you might wanna meet some more people, especially him. Since, I'm pretty sure you two will get to be great friends."

"And why is that?" he asked though almost touched.

She smiled and twirled a little of her hair again, "Just a feeling. Now come on!"

Wanda took a hold of one of his hands and soon flew them both into the small fast food restaurant. Everything was brightly lit and everybody had some sort of crazy hairstyle. Wanda sat them down at a table close to the jute box that was playing songs she loved to dance to. Timmy looked around the noisy room and asked her, "So, when is this 'friend' of yours coming?"

"Oh, he's already here," stated Wanda with a smile while snapping her fingers to the rhythm of the music.

"Huh?" was the only response Timmy could come up with.

"He works here for his part time job during the summer," she explained.

"I see," he replied not really knowing what to say, "That's pretty cool."

"He's really sweet," Wanda told him, "He's a great guy once you get to know him."

Timmy smiled too, "He does seem great from all those ridiculous stories you told me."

Wanda giggled a little, "Yeah, well-"

Suddenly they heard someone yell excitedly, "Wanda!"

A tall skinny fairy suddenly appeared before them. He was carrying a tray of dishes that seemed much too heavy for him but he held it with ease though he couldn't really see over the pile. He wore the uniform of the catering life with black dress pants and stained oxford shirt. But, the real surprise to Timmy was the color of his hair and eyes. His long hair was almost neon green with his eyes a mysterious emerald color. Though his face was covered in freckles, it still held a handsome exterior.

He came right up to Wanda, not really noticing Timmy yet. She happily noted that her new friend seemed somewhat awestruck by her old friend's appearance. She smiled a little, "Hey, Cosmo."

"I didn't know you were coming today," he replied, "You should have told me! I could have gotten you a discount!"

Wanda went back to giggling, "For me and my new friend?"

Cosmo blinked a few times, "Your new friend?"

Wanda nodded and waved her hand towards Timmy, "Cosmo, meet my new friend, Timmy."

"Oh!" Cosmo tried to balance the heavy tray to get a good look at the other side of the table. Turning his head, he greeted happily, "Nice to meet you, Tim-"

Wanda watched in joy when as soon as Cosmo's eyes met Timmy's it seemed he was love struck. A dark red blush appeared amidst his freckles. He stared with his emerald eyes into the others sapphire ones for what seemed like forever. She could tell it was love at first sight for both of them.

She cleared her throat a little to let the silence break. Cosmo blinked a few more times before laughing nervously and looking away for a second. The blush darkened but he was able to reach out a hand and say, "It's nice to meet you, Timmy."

Timmy took the hand without hesitation and replied softly, "Thank you. It's nice to meet you too, Cosmo."

Wanda suggested to her friend, "Why don't you take your break, Cosmo? Then, you and Timmy can acquaint yourselves with each other."

"W-Well, I-" Cosmo stuttered out.

"If it's not too much of a burden," Timmy replied with a little blush of his own.

Cosmo blushed darker if it was possible, "Yeah, I can take my break now."

He rushed off almost causing the entire tray of dishes to fall but somehow made it back to the kitchen in time. Wanda raised one of her eyebrows, "Well, what do you think?"

Timmy smiled nervously, "He seems very...nice."

Wanda shook her head. Moments later, Cosmo came flying back out without the tray. He stared at the them with the blush still evident. He slowly tried to sit next to Wanda but she growled and pushed him into the seat next to Timmy. He and Timmy's elbows brushed up against each other and they both turned their heads away with nervous laughter. Wanda found herself thinking, 'This might not take too long...'

-------------

And it didn't. Just fifteen minutes later, Cosmo and Timmy were staring deeply into each others eyes again while talking to each other. Wanda found herself completely ignored but it was part of the plan so she didn't mind. They were still blushing though it was light since they were more accustomed to each other. Cosmo would make a funny remark and Timmy would laugh softly making the green haired idiot scoot even closer. Timmy would ask him something and Cosmo would say something trying to make it look like he was cool. Then, the brown haired boy would be obliged to scoot closer as well. Wanda came to the conclusion that their faces were barely a couple inches apart.

She smiled and stood up saying, "Well, I'm going to go powder my nose. But please, keep talking."

When she walked out the door of the restaurant, she noticed quickly with joy that they hadn't even taken their eyes off each other.

----------

Thirty minutes later, Timmy and Cosmo were sitting so close to each other that their elbows were blatantly almost tangled together as well as their hips and legs were always brushing up against the others. Their faces were so close that anyone passing by automatically assumed they were on a date. Cosmo even had one hand remarkably close to lying atop one of Timmy's.

Timmy asked Cosmo while picking at his long forgotten hamburger, "So, do you do anything else other than working here?"

Cosmo stirred a straw in his long ago watered down coke and replied softly, "I have a few hobbies but nothing too big. How about you?"

The brown haired boy replied with a shy smile, "I don't really have much to do during the summer. Especially since I just moved here. I don't know where anything is or where to go to have some fun."

Cosmo moved his hand to were it brushed up against Timmy's gently, "Maybe, I could show you. It could be like a tour. I can show you anything you want."

Timmy slowly took one of the cold fries in his hand and popped it into his mouth. After he swallowed, he said softly, "That would be really cool..."

They both leaned their faces even closer to the point their lips almost touched before suddenly they both heard a loud gruff voice call out, "Cosmo! Break's over! Quit flirting and do the dishes!"

Cosmo's blush came back with full force as he stood up abruptly, "I'm not flirting!"

Timmy sat their for a second blinking and wondering what happened to all the heat that had been surrounding him. He stared up at his newly found 'friend' just as soon as he looked down apologetically. Cosmo slowly sat back down clearing his throat. Timmy suggested, "Maybe you should get back to work."

Cosmo leaned back with a sigh, "Yeah..."

He turned his head back and asked, "I get off in a couple hours. Would you like me to give you that tour we were talking about?"

Timmy nodded with a grateful smile, "That would be really nice."

------------------

"What do you mean you still haven't asked him out yet?!" Wanda demanded Cosmo with a scowl.

It had been almost five hundred years since she had introduced Timmy to her friend and knew for a fact that they both liked each other. Cosmo was just being a retard about it.

The green haired idiot tried to loosen his collar nervously, "I-I just can't! I want to! I keep thinking to myself, 'You're gonna do it today!' but every time I see him, my brain suddenly disappears!"

Wanda mumbled, "What's left of it anyway..."

"I'm perfectly fine around him till I try and ask him out!" Cosmo tried to explain, "Then I start to get fidgety and sweaty and I start blushing like crazy. Last time I tried, I ended up sneaking out of his house threw the bathroom window!"

"You do realized that you could have just poofed out of there right?" she asked with a given up look.

"That's the problem!" he exclaimed, "Anytime I get nervous around him, I get so flustered that I can't even remember I can fly and do magic! And that's how we live daily!"

Wanda sighed angrily before slamming her head down onto the table. She leaned back up and told him, "Look, Cosmo. I'm going to motivate you."

He blinked a couple times, "Motivate?"

"This is how it's going to work," she explained, "If you don't ask that boy out by this weekend then I will personally drag you through hell and back just so I can dump you in Piranha lake in Anti-Fairy world. Then pull you through the business offices of Pixie World. And then I will tie you up with chains and an anchor and throw you down to the Atlatians where their monsters can finally get a piece of you. Then, I will send you to the hospital to get you healed...just so I can chop you up into the pieces and mail them to Timmy sending along a letter explaining how you even got into that mess and then-"

"-Enough!" screamed Cosmo who had gotten more and more frightened with each word she had spoken. "That's not motivation that's a threat!"

Wanda crossed her arms, "It works for me. Now, Timmy should be at the library at this time. Go and ask him out."

"In a library?" he asked innocently.

One of Wanda's eyes twitched, "Go!"

Cosmo stood up abruptly and saluted, "Yes, ma'am!", before poofing out of there before she could come up with any other threats.

As soon as he had left, Juandissimo poofed next to her and told her in his sexy accent, "You shouldn't put a lot of stress on him, my love. It took me quite a while to ask you out."

She crossed her arms, "Yeah, but that was only because you were surrounded by fan girls every second of your life. I never got you to myself."

He reached over and kissed her lightly on the cheek, "At least you have me now."

She smiled and replied, "I suppose so. I just sometimes wish Cosmo and Timmy can feel what we feel and realize just how wonderful it is."

----------------

When the puffs of cloud around him disappeared, Cosmo found himself in the entrance of the library. He secretly tried to poof himself home but the thought of being dragged through Anti-Fairy world and Pixie World was just too much. He tried to straighten up his tie and tuck in his shirt before he walked to the counter where the skinny white faced librarian was at. She looked up and said, "Well, what do we have here? Cosmo visiting the library?"

Some of the nervousness disappeared as he let a fake laugh, "Yes, no matter how unbelievable it seems. But, don't worry about the whole Apocalypse thing. I'm just here to meet up with a friend. Do you know where Timmy is?"

The librarian frown suddenly turned into a soft smile, "Ah, Timmy. Yes, he's in the fiction section just a few floors down."

Cosmo nodded and quickly poofed away. He flew on down to where he saw the sign saying, "Fiction", and immediately saw the love of his life putting away some books.

Timmy had definitely grown in the past five hundred years. He was taller with more grace in his movements. He cut his hair a while back though it still wasn't what you would call short. He wore more business like clothing sometimes ever since he got a small clerking job at a large business corporation. But on his days off like today he wore his usual attire of black jeans and pink t-shirt. And whenever he wasn't trying to impress anyone, he still wore the single earring that had brought on many heated arguments between him and his parents. He flew down from the shelves and finally noticed Cosmo was there.

When his love turned around, he found himself looking into the beautiful eyes that he had fallen so deeply in love with. Timmy's starling sapphire eyes had only grown more beautiful as time had passed. They could light up any dark place as quickly as they could stop Cosmo's heart from beating. And when he started smiling, it took all of Cosmo's well being not to melt at the sight of something so heavenly.

Timmy waved him over with that angelic smile, "Hey, Cosmo."

He slowly flew over there with his heart suddenly beating faster and faster. They both sat down at one of the tables and talked about their day. Timmy showed him some up his favorite books in literature and Cosmo sat their trying not to blush too hard.

After a few minutes, Cosmo began to fiddle with his tie, "Timmy, there's something I've been meaning to ask you for a long time now..."

The brown haired fairy stopped smiling for a second but then replied, "What is it?"

"W-Well, I-I," Cosmo tried to say it but found he couldn't. He felt his blush come on even darker.

"Cosmo," Timmy muttered with a soft smile while placing one of his hands atop his friends, "You know you can tell me anything right?"

His blush got even darker when he felt the soft hand atop his own. He looked up to see those sapphire eyes so close to his own. The boy didn't realize how much it took out of him not to just jump up and kiss him right then and there. He thought to himself, 'Self control, self control, self control...'

Suddenly he stood up and yelled, "Will you go out with me?!"

As soon as the words escaped his lips, his eyes widened and he quickly covered his mouth while almost everybody in the library 'Shh!' him.

He quickly sat back down in his seat and finally decided to look at his friend who was sitting with an unreadable expression. Timmy asked him slowly, "Go out? As in a date?"

Cosmo slowly nodded his head already preparing himself for rejection but the next words that came from his friend's lips were not what he expected.

"I'd love to!" Timmy exclaimed, ignoring all the glares.

The green haired fairy sat there in silence almost no believing what he had heard, "R-Really?"

Timmy nodded happily, "I've had a crush on you for a while now. I kept wishing for the courage to ask you out myself but I could never do it."

Cosmo blushed a little, "I've...liked you ever since I met you."

Timmy laughed softly before quietly poofing over next to Cosmo and giving him a light peck on the cheek, "Then how about dinner?"

-----------------

One day on a nice summer evening, Wanda and Juandissimo were sitting on their picnic blanket watching the birds and bees fly by. Well, that's what Juandissimo was doing. Wanda was too busy watching Cosmo and Timmy's make out session just a few yards away from them. Her lover saw her distress and told her gently, "They do make a cute couple, love."

She barely murmured a response, "Hm, yeah. Cosmo bought the ring years ago but he still doesn't have the courage to ask him. Says he's too scared..."

Juandissimo questioned, "How long have they been together now?"

"Three thousand years," she stated without really thinking about it.

"That's not too long," he said trying to defend them.

Wanda snorted, "Long enough to know that you're meant to be."

He kissed her on the lips gently, "You are just determined to get them together forever aren't you."

She leaned into him with a sigh, "They're happy together. They were made for each other. I...I think they even have what it takes to be lifebonded."

"Perhaps," he replied, "But now it's their choice. You can't fool around with destiny, darling."

She smiled though it was kinda sad, "I know..."

------------------

Cosmo lightly kissed the skin of his beloved's neck loving the way he mewed out his name. Timmy brought his mouth back up and their lips danced against each other leaving both of them breathless. He let Timmy lay his head at the crook of his neck and sighed happily. Everything had been going so right ever since they agreed on the first date. His love for the brown haired fairy had only grown in strength and passion. In return, Timmy never let him forget how much he loved the green haired idiot with a kiss or hug.

Timmy sighed while reaching out into the open sunlit afternoon sky, "Three thousand years..."

"I still can't believe you're able to stand me after this long," Cosmo stated with a smile, "Even my own mother has kicked me out a couple of times."

"That's because no matter how much I love you, you'll always be a momma's boy," Timmy replied laughing softly.

Cosmo laughed along with him thankful to just see him smile, "Oh, you'll pay for that one."

Timmy scooted closer to him with his lips just a hair from the others, "Try me..."

When he leaned in for a kiss, Timmy suddenly felt something poke him in the chest. He looked down to one of Cosmo's shirt pocket and questioned, "What's in your pocket?"

Suddenly, his lover got very nervous, "N-Nothing..."

Timmy's eyes narrowed, "It didn't feel like anything you usually have in there. What is it?"

Cosmo quickly covered the pocket with one of his hands and replied, "Nothing. It's just...something I was hoping to show you at a later date."

Now, Timmy was really curious. He put on one of his best puppy dog faces and replied sadly, "Please, Cosmo..."

His lover was taken by surprise at the puppy face but then sighed heavily. He slowly stood up and dusted himself off. He took out a small black velvet box and kneeled down on one knee. Timmy gasped at what he was doing and his eyes widened when he opened the box and a small golden ring with a sapphire stone sat in there glistening. Cosmo slowly asked him, "This isn't how I had planned it but...Timmy, would you m-marry me?"

---------

Wanda was busy making out with her own boyfriend when suddenly she noticed that Cosmo had kneeled down before Timmy and was asking him something. She quickly pushed Juandissimo away so she could get a better view. Her lover yelled, "Ouch! What did I do? Too much tongue?"

But then he noticed too. They sat there watching for a few long moments holding their breaths before they saw Timmy stand up and tackle Cosmo to the ground laughing loudly and yelling, "Of course! I do!"

She smiled softly at the scene before her but couldn't help noticing the small dark clouds that had circled the park. She knew deep down something was about to happen but for the time being, she ignored it.

---------

The wedding was planned to go very smoothly. Wanda was already helping Cosmo and Timmy send out invitations and picking out decorations. She noticed that Cosmo seemed to be on Cloud Nine whenever she met or talked to him. Timmy was the same, always ignoring where he was going and running into things not really caring where he went as long as he was back in Cosmo's arms by the end of the day. She admitted to herself one time that she was a little jealous. But, she quickly got over it.

About a year passed by and the couple still hadn't picked a date but they knew they wanted it to be soon. Wanda was busy with Cosmo trying to pick out suits and ties while noticing that every now and then, Timmy's smile would turn painful. She didn't think much of it nor of the fact that Timmy made up little lies every now and then so he could run off to the hospital.

Soon, the barely noticeable painful smiles became more evident. She found herself laying awake at night wondering what was bothering him.

One day, she was helping Timmy pick out a suit in a fancy wedding shop with surprisingly no one really around. Cosmo had plans with his mother and she had wanted to get Timmy alone. They found a lovely suit that fit him perfectly and she watched in happiness as he twirled around in mid air looking in all the mirrors. She quickly noticed another pained smile and finally asked, "Is there anything wrong, Timmy?"

He stopped twirling instantly and his smile completely disappeared. He hovered back to the floor and grew silent for many minutes. He poofed away the suit and laid it on a table while he sat down in front of a mirror. He looked deeply into his own reflections before asking her slowly, "Wanda, are fairies immortal?"

The question bothered her a little but she let it go. She put on a little smile, "That topic can be negotiable sometimes. Some say we are when really every millennium we do have a few die off. To species like humans who live much less than we do, we are considered 'immortal'. But what's this all about, Timmy?"

He twirled his engagement ring in his hand for another minute before finally turning his head around and telling her with grim saddened eyes, "I think...I'm sick."

------------

Timmy

I had never believed in prophecy. I didn't want to know what my future was like. Sure, a few so called 'prophets' wandered into Fairy world every now and then. And everyone would be so excited. I was always the only one who never went. Why would I? I thought I had known my future. The only thing running through my mind was that I was going to be with Cosmo forever. That's all I ever wanted. How was I supposed to know that in a few short years, I was going to die in the arms of the one who I love the most?
